With less than a week away from Bamboo Bass Festival, the hype is eating away at us. As we speak, the festival team is in Jaco, Costa Rica building the framework for an experience of a lifetime. The festival is in their 3rd edition, and 2018’s event has a slew of new surprises being announced as each day passes.

This year, history repeats itself with another legendary Sleeveless Records Sunday Takeover. With that, expect artists such as Thelem, Vancouver’s GDubz, and JLEON who will be thumping out beats on the festival’s very own PK rig, one of the world’s most sought-after sound systems.

Friday night will be ruled by bass heavy-hitters Truth, and a showcase from their record label Deep Dark & Dangerous. Expect to see one of dubstep’s old school legends DJ Youngsta, alongside DMVU, Canada’s Abstrakt Sonance, the mighty Khiva, and a special treat, legendary man on the mic, SGT. Pokes.

With 3 days of epic fun in the sun, it’s important attendees are well taken care of in the hot Costa Rican’ temperatures. Expect an impressive effort focused on Harm Reduction teams to mitigate any risks from the hot weather and late nights. Vancouver based Karmik & San Jose based ACEID have prepared essential zones for the festival this year, including a safe space for women. Make sure you visit their Chill Area if you aren’t feeling the best, or just need a break from the music.

From authentic Costa Rican food, increased efforts to recycle and conserve energy, or the festival’s contributions to the Jaco community, Bamboo is doing it all. To start, if you get time in the city of Jaco, visit the new state-of-the-art children’s playground built with a portion of taxes Bamboo Bass paid from 2017’s festival. Or during the festival, notice the untreated bamboo for their stages, which is thrown back in the rainforest to decompose. Also, bring a water bottle (#BYOB), as there is free running water all throughout the site.  The team has looked at every angle, and have carefully planned an experience you’ll remember for years. It’s Bamboo, baby.

As always, the team behind the festival encourages each and everyone attending to be a positive ambassador of Bamboo. Their goal is to leave Costa Rica better than they found it, and more so to treat it just like home. There are still more announcements to come from the team, and there’s still time to volunteer. if interested, click here. We’re looking forward to hearing more from the Bamboo Bass team, and from you. If you’re attending, comment below and let us know why you are excited!
