PLAY Motion Notion 2017 – Calling all Western Canadian electronic music djs and producers, bass music advocates, and funk warriors! Canada’s 18th annual Motion Notion Festival has teamed up with Vancouver’s event powerhouse Do604 to launch one of the largest DJ contests of the year – PLAY Motion Notion 2017 . Accepting submissions from now until April 29th, Motion Notion x Do604 invite regional, rising talent from Alberta and British Columbia to submit their 15-minute mix via Mixcloud for consideration. At stake? The ultimate prize of playing a prestigious set on one of Motion Notion’s main stages later this summer, August 24th – 28th in the mountains of Golden, BC at the historic Beaverfoot Lodge. In addition to securing a coveted set at Motion Notion 2017, the winners will receive 2 guest passes and a complimentary glamping package.

ENTER to PLAY Motion Notion

All contestants will gain exposure on an international level throughout the duration of the contest as the judging occurs in two key phases, allowing fans to select the first round of winners followed by a panel of industry heavyweights judging the Top 5 mixes to decide who comes out on top. Mixes will be displayed on the contest landing page until the submission window closes.

Judging this year’s contest include Westwood Recordings – a record label founded by Nick Middleton of The Funk Hunters / The Outlier, along with Danio Management who boasts unstoppable names like Stickybuds, K+Lab, Slynk and JPod. Also joining the panel is popular Canadian blog (US!!!!) Betty and Kora, best known for their stories, photos + videos highlighting festival culture, Creative BC, a non-profit association serving the music and creative industries within the province, Everfest, THUMP Canada and VICE Canada, the global source for all things news, culture, music and everything that matters in the world.

Motion Notion makes its triumphant return to the lush forests of Beaverfoot Lodge in Golden BC, Canada this August 24th-28th. 2017 Headliners include Datsik, Avalon, Dirtyphonics, Koan Sound, The M Machine and Minnesota along with 80Fitz, Abstrakt Sonance, Au5, Birds Of Paradise, Cheshire, CloZee, D-Funk, K+Lab, Marten Hørger, Treavor Moontribe, LongWalkShortDock, Neon Steve, Doctor Werewolf, Grouch, Inf1n1te, I.Y.F.F.E, Slynk + MORE ARTISTS TBA!
