Big news coming out of the Squamish Valley Music Festival camp this morning. The festival have released a statement saying they will not be moving forward with a 2016 event. The message via their website reads:
“We have made the extremely difficult decision to not proceed with the 2016 festival, due to take place in August. This decision was not made lightly and we sincerely apologize to all the people this decision affects: the fans, artists, industry partners, corporate partners, suppliers and all of our supporters within the community of Squamish.”
2016 would have been the 7th year of operations for the festival which has hosted headliners such as Drake, Eminem, Queens Of The Stone Age, Bad Religion, Arcade Fire, Pretty Lights, Weezer, and Bruno Mars.
Whether or not the festival, co-produced by BRANDLIVE and Live Nation Canada, continues past 2016 remains to be seen.
