Track of the Day: The Jackal – Kytami
Betty & Kora are excited to be featuring Kytami’s first single from her new album, to be released early 2016, as our Track of the Day. “The Jackal” is inspired by the graphic novel project Kytami is currently a part of, titled “Animate Her” with the original artwork created by Alexia Tryfon. In the story her violin comes to life and takes the form of a jackal.
Working on the album with Kytami has been DJ/Producer Phonik Ops who has helped her explore different styles and sounds for the new release. On working with the former Kelowna based artist she asserted, “It took us a little while to find a way to merge our different approaches to writing music but once we got in the flow we found a lot of common ground.” Local producer Beatsmith also came into the mix through mutual friends in Victoria and collaborated on a few other tracks on the album in addition to “The Jackal.”
