Aloha, Keloha!
Tonight marks the first evening of Keloha Music Festival. Situated in the “California of Canada” Kelowna, BC. This festival is for music lovers with an array of musical taste buds. The festival line-up includes notable acts such as the electro-pop-rock group The Naked and Famous, rock‘n-fucking’roll legends Monster Truck, Los Angeles indie-rock favourites Locale Natives as well as local darlings such as Rykka, Hey Ocean, Jon and Roy and Devon Cayote.
There are truly SO many awesome bands on this bill, but here are a few to watch out for: Cayucas, hailing from Santa Monica California, this indie-tropical-pop band’s catchy lyrics will have you dancing up a storm! Although this band belongs in the notable acts part of this write-up, they are definitely a top pick for Betty and Kora. St. Lucia, straight out of New York, combines a futuristic dreamy element with a blast-from-the-past 90’s synth-pop and 80’s new wave component. They’re going to be the PERFECT summer jam for Sunday FUN-DAY! Vancouver based DJ outfit The Funk Hunters play Sunday as well lake-side at the Sandbar Stage. The Funk Hunters are easily one of the best suited asks for the weekend, combining tropical, brass, funky and booty-shaking beats to explosive crowds – get sandy! Lastly, one of Canada’s most buzzed about bands, The Balconies’ explosive, energetic, rock trio are not to be missed. Check out their new video and see for yourself.
This line up is truly an eclectic mix with something for everyone, so make sure you get your fine selves down to the park this weekend and get into the groove that is Keloha.
