One of the most dynamic new voices in Canadian Folk Music” – Toronto Blues & Roots Radio
Not far off from the Mumford or Avett sounds…but the energy doesn’t come from trying to be big; rather it’s subtle and heartfelt” – CBC’S East Coast Music
Toronto, ON – (September 17, 2013) – Described as a young poet, storyteller and multi-instrumentalist, Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Lydia Hol has the type of dynamic yet delicate voice that is instantly engaging. Recently chosen as a Top 20 finalist in The PEAK Performance Project (the biggest radio station artist development project in Canada), Hol incorporates both traditional and contemporary sounds, on her debut EP ‘Boats’.
A gifted storyteller and writer with a hint of Maritime notes in her voice, Hol’s music has garnered a lot of attention coast to coast amongst Canada’s vibrant music scene.  Having shared the stage with artists such as Belle Starr, The Meds, Mike Edel, Jon Bryant, Willhorse, The River and the Road, Maurice and most recently Vancouver Rock band, Head of the Herd, Hol is a sought after musician on every level – from guest vocals on recordings to main stage performances across the country.
Studying Jazz vocals at Vancouver Community College’s School of Music and playing in numerous bands, honed Hol’s live show into the well-crafted, hypnotizing performance that it is today – haunting and beautiful.  Subtle and heartfelt, the release of Hol’s single ‘Bitter Heart’ made her a Regional finalist in CBC Music’s Searchlight Competition (the search for Canada’s best new artist).  She was also notably a finalist in the 2011 CFOX Seeds competition.
As a finalist in The PEAK Performance Project (PPP), Hol will display her soulful instrumentation and many talents during an official PPP showcase TONIGHT at Vancouver’s Fortune Sound Club. One-to-watch, Hol will perform a selection of songs from ‘Boats’, including her brilliant and unforgettable new single ‘This Fire” recorded with Howard Redekkop and members of The Crackling.  You can also expect so see a guest appearance from Neuman Mannas and Clayton Frank of Head of the Herd with Lydia this evening.
